Timothy McVeigh and Bob Kerry did similar things, but Timothy McVeigh had better aim.

The mission for which Bob Kerry received the Bronze star only resulted in the deaths of one old man and a bunch of women an children. In my book, that's 100% collateral damage.
Of course there are those who will claim that the cases are totally different. Kerry was a soldier and McVeigh was a terrorist.
In my book, a terrorist you agree with is a soldier, and a terrorist you disagree with is a terrorist.
No doubt there are those who would be happy to give Timothy McVeigh a bronze or even gold star, and those who would be happy to see Bob Kerry get lethal injection.
